What is Composite Laminate?

Laminates are primarily used for beautifying the look of your rooms or kitchen by using laminate countertops. A composite laminate is the combination of layers of fibrous composite materials which can be customized to provide a wide range of engineering properties, including inplane stiffness, bending stiffness, strength, and coefficients of thermal expansion.

The particular layers are made of high-modulus, high strength fibers in a polymeric, metallic, or ceramic matrix material. These fibers include graphite, glass, boron, and silicon carbide. The individual layers generally are orthotropic or traversely anisotropic, orthotropic, or quasi-isotropic properties. General matrix materials are epoxies, polyimides, aluminum, titanium, and alumina. Based on the stacking sequence of the individual layers, the composite laminate may exhibit coupling between inplane and out-of-plane response.

Compact laminates are the basic building blocks of many of the invaluable structures and objects that are most commonly used in today’s world. As such, manufacturing of high quality composite laminate panels is something that is extremely important for many industries. Composite laminate panels are used in various types of construction projects.
